About Me
I am an Assistant Professor in AI and NLP for Healthcare at UMC Utrecht. My work combines clinically grounded machine learning, natural language processing, and practical deployment, with a focus on making AI systems useful and trustworthy in real clinical workflows.
My background spans biomedical engineering, medical image analysis, and healthcare AI. During my PhD at UMC Utrecht, I worked on medical imaging methods for orthopaedic applications, including segmentation, registration, and data-driven surgical planning simulation and support. Today, my research centers on language models, clinical documentation support, evaluation of AI systems in healthcare, and the translation of research prototypes into real-world practice.
